Lois and The Ugly Stick

Our specialty is Irish, Scottish, Canadian, American, Old-Time, Classical tunes and French tunes:
"Minuet" by Bach, "Smile A While,"  "Scotland the Brave," "Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond," 
"Danny Boy,"  "Westphalia Waltz," "Oh Suzanna," and "
My Wild Irish Rose."

Musicians

Tanya Renaud

Tanya Renaud teaches violin and viola in the Gatineau/Ottawa region. She's classically trained
and in the performance program at the University of Ottawa, studying viola with Rennie Regehr. 
Tanya is also a member of the performing group  Fiddlers and Company.

 Lois Siegel

Lois Siegel is a filmmaker who recently started haunting the music scene in Ottawa. She plays fiddle, the spoons, bodhran, and the Ugly Stick with The Lyon Street Celtic Band and Celtic North.  When she isn’t playing the fiddle, she teaches Video Production at the University of Ottawa. Her documentary films cover a range of subjects:  “Baseball Girls” (women who play softball and baseball), “Lip Gloss” (female impersonators), “Strangers in Town” (albinism), and “Stunt People” (The Fournier Family performing stunts for films). Lois is also a freelance photographer for "The Ottawa Citizen," The Kitchissippi Times, "The Centretown Buzz," and "Capital Style Magazine." 
She writes film reviews for "The Glebe Report."

Meaghan LaGrandeur

Meaghan LaGrandeur is an accomplished fiddler and vocalist.  She began her musical journey at the age of six through the Suzuki Violin School of Music.  Meaghan was accepted into Canterbury High School for violin performance. While studying at Canterbury, she was a member of the Canterbury Concert Choir. Meaghan is now studying International Development and Globalization at the University of Ottawa where she is also involved with the  Musical Theatre Club. Although a Social Sciences major, she takes weekly lessons from fiddling sensation, Denis Lanctot and studies voice with David MacAdam and competes  in vocal competitions.
